I love birthdays. I think gifts are my love language. I love giving and receiving gifts. I love when Josh comes home with flowers, I love when my family finds a unique gift that made them think of me. I love my annual birthday parade when my family marches around the house to the sounds of Disney’s Electronic Parade.
And I have grown to love birthdays even more (which I didn’t think was possible) as I have been able to celebrate two birthdays so far with my daughters. I love creating new and fun traditions for them to make their birthday special.

But this birthday feels a little different. It feels like a big milestone for me personally. So many of my creative endeavors never made it to their second birthday. And I think it’s because I was trying to do so many of those by myself.
2 years ago today, Kindred + Co. set up shop in a little corner of the internet. This place has become a part of me. I was so scared to start this. So scared to jump, unsure of who would join me, or if anyone would listen or even care.
And here we are two years and 90 blogposts, and lots of profile books later, and this vibrant community feels like it’s only beginning.
I knew I was supposed to start this community. I wanted to give something to others that I did not have while going through my adoption. A place for all in the triad – a place to learn from each other and hold our stories with care. A place to agree, disagree, to be stretched and seen, to be heard and loved.
I am so grateful for each person that has given a piece of themselves to this space – to those of you that have shared your story through your grief and through your joy, and to those of who you have listened with grace and care – thank you.
I never thought that this community would bring people into my life that I can’t imagine doing life without. To my team of writers, I adore you and you are what makes this place what it is. To our guest bloggers that have jumped on and shared your words with us – they are a gift. To everyone that has liked and commented and shared – we are so grateful for you and your encouragement.
And we are so excited for what is ahead. We have big dreams for this community and we can’t wait to start unfolding them for you this year. We hope you will continue to learn and grow with us.
